Artist Statement:

GANESHA, a black trans womxn sits in all her glory at the home of her curandera teacher and mentor, Estela Roman, during the sacred time of Dia de Muertos. She has a cempazuchitl flower resting on her head (similar to how a crown would) in tribute to her ancestors’ guidance y deep wisdom. In Mesoamerican tradition, the pedals of cempazuchitl are known to bridge the connection between the spiritual and physical realm during Dia de Muertos. GANESHA is an embodiment of her ancestors’ hopes, legacies and prayers.
