Artist Statement:

This piece is a visual depiction of the title of my first solo album, “Standing Between the Day and Night,” a collection of 11 original songs written and recorded a few years before I started testosterone. The album title reflected the shame of feeling I wasn’t brown enough and the intrigue and terror around the possibility that I might be trans. I recently had the desire to interact with these songs in a different way and ended up creating a drawing for each song on the album, as well as one for the album title. Years later, as I approach 50 years of this lifetime, what shows up in this theme is the joy of being more fluid and confident in myself than ever. This piece is a celebration of my body and spirit.
