Title: Sahku at the Yuba
Medium: 35mm Film Photograph
Year Created: 2020

Artist Statement:

This photo was made during a trip to the Yuba river with a group of melanated queer and trans folx . It is not often that black and brown trans folx can feel free and at ease out in nature–as so much of these natural spaces are typically bombarded and overcome by cis white hetero people. But on this particular day, there was barely anyone around, and we were reminded of the blessing it is to be trans, poc, and full of joy~like nature intended. In this photo, Sahku sits by the river completely nude and at ease.
